England Vs Denmark Preview

England will face Group C opponents Denmark in their second game of Euro 2024 at Frankfurt.

The Three Lions will hope to continue their winning ways off the back of their 1-0 win over Serbia.

Denmark drew their first game of the competition to Slovenia 1-1 as Christian Eriksen grabbed Denmark’s only goal of the game. Eriksen will be Denmark’s main creative outlet and will hope to supply Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund.

Kasper Hjulmand’s side will be a formidable force for England as they have proved to have a solid defence conceding only three goals in their last five games. They are also unbeaten in their last five games, winning three and drawing two.

Denmark prefers to play a 3-4-2-1 and allow their wingbacks more liberty to go forward. Alexander Bah and Victor Kristiansen slotted in as the wingbacks last game but there is speculation that Joakim Mæhle will replace Bah ahead of the England game.

There has been no injury news from the England camp, Luke Shaw still has not recovered enough to start on Thursday afternoon, as he failed to train with the rest of the first team.

Southgate will have to decide whether to continue his experiment of Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield after a mixed performance from the Liverpool fullback led to fans questioning whether he should continue to partner Declan Rice.

The media also questioned whether Phil Foden should play on the left wing after a subpar performance against Serbia led fans to doubt the Premier League Player of the Year. It is expected that Southgate will carry on utilising him on the left-side attack next to Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka.

A win for England would put them in a dominant position within Group C and almost certain to qualify for the next stage of the competition as they would be five points clear at the top.
